Opening Night
Friday, November 11
Join us on Friday, November 11 as we kick-off the Busan West Film Festival with a memorable opening night extravaganza. We will begin the evening at 6:00 p.m. with a tribute to famous Korean director Bong Joon-ho as we honor him with the Busan West Icon Award. Following the award ceremony, Bong will introduce and screen the U.S. premiere of The Host, in 3D.
Then it`s truly time to celebrate in high-Hollywood-style fashion at the post-screening reception. Guests are invited to stay and enjoy pan-Asian food, drinks and entertainment while mixing with our filmmakers in attendance.

About Bong Joon-ho:
Bong Joon-ho received recognition with his short film, Incoherence in 1994. With his first feature, Barking Dogs Never Bite he won numerous awards from international film festivals such as Hong Kong and Munich. In 2003, his second feature Memories of Murder achieved international recognition. His third feature The Host (2006) set a ticket sale record of ten million in the shortest period of time in Korean cinema history, a record that has yet to be broken. His next feature, Mother, was invited to Cannes in 2009 and made him a world renowned film director.
