| Film Synopsis |
Hangyu, a National Intelligence Service agent, Jiwon a North Korean agent sent south, meet again after six years since an unknown shoot-out occurred in the heart of Seoul. They both are aware they are each from their national agencies but sign up to work with each other in secrecy. Hangyu was out of the agency now working on at a business that finds runaway immigrant workers, while Jiwon collects money to send to his family in the north. Secret Reunion is a step up from a typical film dealing with ideology of national separation. The Korean films in the past dealt with radical ideologies resulting from the division, but in this case, Hangyu and Jiwon came to work together because they share the same realistic situation needing money. To add to this the film brings on various levels of society including immigrant workers, portraying the changing times of society through their ironical situation. The film is a buddy movie, mixed with social comedy using entertaining genre elements while capturing the ever-changing reality. |
