| Film Synopsis |
The general version of Sunny is, in a phrase, the 'Kang Hyung-chul version' and the 7 Princesses version of My Sassy Girl. It's a movie of coming of age and memories that come to fore through the past and present of the 7 princesses with the gap of 25 years. Though it had cast no major stars, it was a huge hit making upwards of 7,400,000. Certain flaws such as the overdone historical reenactments and the contrived plot are more than offset by the staggeringly powerful storytelling. Performance by veteran actresses Yoo Ho-jung, Jin Hee-kyung and Kim Sun-kyung are just as outstanding as those of the seven young girls. The retro effect, or the so-called reality TV show 'Survival: I Am a Singer ' effect, as well as the selection and arrangement of music is top class. The choice to end with 'Time After Time,' after the theme song 'Sunny ' is an outstanding choice. |
